Start a SafetyNet Program in your area

SafetyNet: Smart Cyber Choices® is now available for implementation across the United States.
SafetyNet® is a highly successful cybersafety program that has reached over 100,000 San Diegans.  This program was created by the San Diego Police Foundation and the San Diego Internet Crimes Against Children Task Force to teach kids and families how to use technology in a safe, positive, and ethical manner.  The SafetyNet® school assembly and accompanying parent presentation will capture the attention of attendees while providing them with the tools they need to safely manage their online lives.
Who can start a SafetyNet® Program?
SafetyNet® is available to qualified organizations affiliated with law enforcement, military agencies, non-profits or educational groups located outside of San Diego County.
What does the program include?
Approved SafeyNet® providers will be supplied with everything needed to present the SafetyNet® program.
A set of materials includes:
  • SafetyNet® Middle School PowerPoint Presentation with presenter notes
  • SafetyNet® Parent PowerPoint Presentation with presenter notes
  • The Parent Resource Guide in English and Spanish
  • Your own page on the SafetyNet: Smart Cyber Choices® web site
  • The opportunity to customize and air the SafetyNet® public service announcements with your organization’s name and sponsors
  • Access to expert cybersafety advice and ongoing support from the SafetyNet® team

The SafetyNet® program is updated on an annual basis with each presenter receiving their own copy of materials.  The materials are distributed before each school year begins.

Each new program provider is required to take part in a six hour SafetyNet® training course.  This can be completed via Skype or by attending training in our San Diego offices.  Alternatively, a SafetyNet® trainer can come to your area given your organization meets the travel and accommodation expenses.
